How many litres does yours hold??? Sheesh, I get 500 on a good run if i'm lucky!

    Sounds like an awesome drive.

I have put a max of 52L into mine. That's fully brimmed with after releasing all the air out of the tank (there is a pressure release valve just inside the filler neck).

We had a quiet day today, doing some wandering around Melbourne and then a run up to Cockatoo to see some family. Tomorrow we are leaving early for a run down to the 12 Apostles and then heading back toward Canberra. Might look at stopping around Chiltern or Beechworth for the night.

I am lucky to have a pretty good boss that approves my leave... I also have plenty of days in my book, and save religiously for the ability to travel when I can (I have no interest in buying a house), so when I have the ability to get out of the house, I do... Next trip for me is back to the USA at the end of the year to see my mates, and start looking for work... I plan to be part of the US Dub scene by 2013.

Blitzen: If you are just driving through the National Park you don't have to pay the $16 fee. It's only if you are intending to stop inside the park for any particular length of time where you leave your car parked.

Yeah. I explained to the lady at the toll booth that we were just passing through, but we still got charged the full rate.

Well after another huge day, we have just arrived in Beechworth for the night, and we are just settling down with our first pint of the night...
We left Melbourne's CBD at around 10.30am and headed down to the 12 Apostles... After our fair share of getting stuck behind tour busses and slow cars that refused to pull over, road works, and stops along the way for a gander, I was able to give the Polo a good strap along the Great Ocean Road, which really was alot of fun!! There were a few spots where the road was very rough, and then some very smooth parts where you could really drop into the corners. It was alot of fun!!

After having a great look at the Apostles, we headed north and picked up the highway toward Geelong. After filling up again, we set off for our night stop here at Beechworth. With over 9.5hrs of traveling, we covered 760km, at an average of 8.4l/100... It was a good day...

Tomorrow we head back to Canberra.

So after 6 days, and 2600 odd kilometers, we are back home in Canberra. Last night we stayed in one of the pubs on Beechworth, Victoria. After waking up, we went out for a walk around town, and found that Beechworth is like a scene out of the movie Cocoon... I think we were the youngest people in town by about 300 years!! It was like Night of the living dead, but it was daytime!!

The return back to Canberra took about 4hrs straight up the Hume. All up, it was an awesome trip, taking in some amazing roads, and lots of beautiful scenery. The car performed very well, especially last night driving up into the hills between Wangaratta and Beechworth. The colder, denser air let the car boost harder, but this was curtailed by the risk of suicidal wildlife wandering onto the tree lined road!!

    The trip...
