Yeah, thats the make up of it...I'm not sure about other VW's, cos the Polo is the first one I have owned, but its the same on the rear end of the Subaru Impreza's.
Hey Guys,
So it's been two weeks since i've had my new pologti! and i LOVE it
Anyways, i have a question for everyone,
I realised when i first got the car that only the left back reverse light works. And so today i called up Volkswagen and they told me that all European cars are made that way? That there are two back lights and one's for the reverse lights and that the other is a fog light?
That doesn't really make sense to me and I tried to google it but I couldn't find anything on this.
Do any of you guys know anything about this?
Thanks alot
bec

Yeah I was confused at first as well but its true - a lot of cars now including some Toyotas have the same thing.

quite often they have one light for reversing and one for rear fog. saves on space at the rear. most european cars I've owned for the past 10 years have been the same.
The reverse light will be always on the passenger side the fog on the driver side.
That means tail lamps from europe may not be compatible here.
never looked into it for the polo... but i know on the new beetle you can order the right hand side reverse lens and wire them so you have two reverse lamps... makes a big difference to the look of the back of the new beetle as the reverse and fog lamps are down low on the rear bumper. seperate from the brake lights etc. have done this change on our nb.
