    Retune - the last mod?

    I've pretty much finished modding my toy, but for a long time have been contemplating a re-tune to get the best from my Polo.

    I've approached a few vendors with varying success, without starting a chip war, I think some on here will not be surprised to hear of my proposed direction, CC.

    I have been running APR stage 1, V2 since i bought it and with the other accompanying mods, feel like I could be getting more from it. With the overall success of CC, praise of Gav, etc, I'm trying to get some opinions and maybe collaborators in code.

    So, the feeler;
    Looking for a tune in Sydney and wishing CC was represented locally? Voice your interest here to assist in coercing Gav to come visit.

    The mods;
    I've done a few supporting mods, but wondering if it's worth my while to do anything else before I get it mapped.

    The main mods I have;
    PD160 intake trumpet for air box with flap cut
    Cooler plugs
    Forge 008 diverter
    Forge FMIC
    N249bypass
    2.5 custom dump

    What else is going to be of benefit before the tune / what should I contemplate after the tune?
    Race n75 (have one gathering dust)
    Sports cat
    Full exhaust
    Custom intake (did nothing on the APR tune)
    Other intake elements
    Bigger injectors

    opinions, interest, ideas appreciated.

    For the money wasted on a new tune you could almost buy a KO4
    Bigger injectors wont do anything with the turbo you have
    Water-meth is the only modification that will give you any gains albeit a small one.

    Yes and no.

    If you spend money on a K04, you still need a tune.

    Then realistically, you are into injectors, a MAF and a fuel pump to run Custom Code.

    After that, of course, there's, do you change the manifold and maybe a bigger downpipe and exhaust?

    Which leads to......... Maybe I should be doing the diff?

    If he were to go with a K04, what would you fit as supporting hardware?

    Ok Seb on Courtneys PC here .

    You dont need a new tune if the existing one is semi-decent . You could fit a KO4 and run a MBC inline and have the boost spike and hold at a max on 21psi . You could run a 4 bar FPR with the 317cc injectors that the Polo gti comes out with standard . Your still going to make a good 140-145KWs atws , a fuel pump is overkill for a ko4 .

    If he doesnt have a decent downpipe , diff or exhaust then maybe do that first .

    I just dont beleive changing software for the sake of it , and really what gains will you get from one tune to another ?

    Seb I think a retune from certain ones to others are worth the cash, proven with my qtr times if the mods present can take full advantage of the retune.

    Its a gamble though , if your looking at best bang for buck then read my post above .
    And I could build a polo gti with a different tuner with the same mods that would go faster , the tune isnt the be all and end all like people make it out on the forums , the hardware is just as important , as is how its fitted . The tune just brings it all together , if any of the hardware isnt right then the tune isnt going to fix it .

    Who me ? I dont think so . I ran a 13.7 out of my S3 with only a tune 7 years ago even before the first polo was sold . Should I mention Chux was next to me in a fwd A3T with APR tune and downpipe and he ran a 13.8 ?

    Ingesting comments, thanks.

    Gav, we didn't really discuss changing the turbo but your sentiments match mine. I want to refine my hardware with better suited coding, I think the APR on the Polo can do well, but it seems lacking at times.

    Seb, I appreciate your input, you know what you are talking about, if I had my time again I would have taken a different path. Things are always easier in hindsight. To do it right, i estimate I'm up for over $2k for a fairly basic hardware and labour cost.

    CC will cost me a lot less and I have faith in Gav from my dealings with him and how others Polo owners have responded to CC tuning.
