    Resetting Service Interval

    Hey All,

I'm pulling my hair out trying to reset the service interval on my car. I do my own basic servicing so the oil is under 1000km old but I still have 'insp' up on my display.

I tried the suggested method in the owners manual (hold reset knob in with ignition off, turn ignition to 'on' position but don't start the car, turn reset knob to the right until the display resets) but it just doesn't seem to be working.

Edit: After holding the button in and turning the ignition to the 'on' position I get a spanner on the LCD display with no text next to it. Turning the knob (while still held in) doesn't do anything, even when held for 10s+

    Am I missing something here?

Do this step by step it works for me all the time

here are the stepts reset it:
1)To reset the long life service display manually,Switch off the ignition,

2)Then press and hold down the trip reset button beneath the speedometer.

3)Switch on ignition and release the reset button, note the relevant service will now be displayed in the display.

4)Turn the clock reset knob clockwise and the display will turn to normal.

5)switch off the ignition to complete the reset procedure

See, doing steps 1-3 don't yield the relevant service on the display.

Instead, I just get a spanner icon in the bottom left corner and a blank display otherwise

I get the same thing, has anyone else got a different method or do you need VAG-COM?

refering to kelvniii's post, step #3:

"Switch on ignition and release the reset button, note the relevant service will now be displayed in the display."

did you release the button when turning on the ignition? because based on what you wrote, i suspect you're holding the button all the time?

i might be wrong though, just pointing out the obvious. cheers

yea happen to me too before. Then i realized i wasn't giving it enough muscle when turning the knob. Don't be gentle, turn the knob harder and it will reset.

I'm happy to let anyone borrow my VAG-COM if they need it.
