Removing turbo and fitting new turbo lines

Hi all, im sure its been covered somewhere but i did try search for it with no result.
Im wondering how difficult it is to remove my turbo lines off my polo GTI 9N without removing the turbo (KO4)?
if it is possible, is it worth the grief i might recieve once im going through it all?
i spoke with 1 mechanic friend and he suggested to just remove the turbo off and replace the lines as its easier than trying to just remove the lines and leave the turbo still bolted up.
i need to fix my leaking water line once and for all..
Also should i get braided lines made up or should i just buy genuine lines and fix it back up to the KO4 that i have currently bolted up?
    cheers

After replacing the turbo myself, i would have to say IMPOSSIBLE without first removing the turbo from its flanges.
    Cheap, Fast, Reliable. Choose two.

I have done a few turbo swaps on Polo's and the nearest you could get to leaving it in, is dropping it off the manifold. Then replace the turbo to manifold gasket and mounting bolts.
