Removing top half of 9n3 Dash

So I may just be able to source a new dashboard for my GTI, and do know you can buy just the top half. The only DIY I found was in German and how to pull out the whole thing unfortunately.

My my question is how hard is it to pull out the dash, and if so can I just pull out the top half?

    Cheers,
    Aiden

Ahh, annoying considering you can buy the separate pieces. Are they screwed together or something? Seems like a decent afternoon job to swap them out. (plus would be worried about more rattles haha)

You can just replace the top separately in the car - done one before.

We removed appropriate parts to gain access like cluster, radio cage area, vents and glovebox.

Then it just bolts/clips into position.

The airbag assembly for passenger is bolted to the underside of the top skin, so that would have to be swapped over as well.

Cheers mate, that is a great help!

I wouldn't think that VW would quote you just for the top half if you couldn't swap the bastard haha.

VW quoted me 1568.65 for that section.. ouch

Swapping over the assembly should be as simple as a few plugs and screws? Rough ETA on time needed for the swap?

I think you have been misquoted on that price?

When we did ours the top was only $406.00

Surely it hasn't gone up that much in 5 years!

The top section we got was 6Q2858451C4G5 which is anthracite colour for Polo GTi

Probably half a day seeing as you haven't done it before.

The second time would probably only be a couple of hours once you knew how everything clips together.

hmm weird.. unless he quoted me the whole lot. I did point out what I wanted from the digram and thoroughly explained to him it was only the top section covering vents, airbag etc. and I don't require the rest.

Thanks for the part number, Ill have to shoot back down and confirm, because that mark near the drivers vent gives me the ****s everyday I get in it haha

    Appreciate it graeme!
