What polo? Every gti I have done has taken 2 litres easily.
Hi guys, I decided to change the transmission fluid today in my 5speed manual (same as the one in your polos). I don't really have any problems with shifting but I just wanted to do it because I don't know when was the last time it was changed. I drained the oil out but only got 1liter out of it, so I thought there was not enough in It (maybe the previous owner didn't fill it up properly) so I drained it all out until no oil was dripping out and then went to full it up through the filler plug hole but only managed to put 1 liter in(instead of 2) before the oil started coming out of the filler hole. So I started the car, shifted through the gears ( shifting no problem at all) and let the car run in 1st gear for about 2 mins. Then I checked the level again and managed to put another 100ml in before its full again.
Do you have any idea what could have gone wrong when it's suppose to go 2litres in? thanks for any advice

Its actually Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.8t 20v with 5speed manual BBU engine code..I used to have polo gti when I lived in Sydney but now back home in Europe I got Seat...I know its suppose to take 2 litres but it only took 1 liter.
Id do it again. Something isnt right there mate.
is there some sludge blocking the drain plug and you're not getting it all out? It'll take nearly 2 litres easy and some do the car with a brick under the passenger front tyre to elevate that side a bit and then you can get an easy 2 litres is. Just 1 litre is off though. Its not coming out the bellhousing, or driveshafts seals is it!
Hi Sambb, I haven't really checked properly if there was any sludge inside blocking the drain hole but the oil was still hot and seemed to be freely pouring out of it with no problem but I will definitely check for any sludge, its gotta be something in there blocking the flow, the bell housing and driveshaft seals look nice and clean, anyway I'll get more oil and I'll do it again, thanks man
Is it definitely an 02j/02r 5 speed.?
