As in while you are driving? cos it does reset when you switch the car off.

The idea being that you get yourself some fresh air every now and then
! I would not recommend to keep on Recycle all the time...

From what I understand, the recycled air button is to be used to block unwanted outside smells. Other than that, it should be left open.

Even though in summer, the air con will feel cooler with recycled air all the time, you'll end up turnig your air vents into breeding grounds for all types of nasty bacteria -- remember that nasty smell?

If I use the recycle button with air con the smell is rancid the second time you drive. If I have been using the aircon with recycle I air out the car before I drive it again... apparently this is normal.... A+ VW

oh. i see. i bought the car new. yes it does seem to reset when i turn the car off. I see what you mean about the bacteria. my previous car did occasionally have this odd smell.... maybe it had to do with the recycled air button being on... i guess this is the normal behaviour of the car then! thanks a lot guys. maybe i'll just get a car air freshener. one of the gay clip on ones with a little rotating fan in it.

MOst new cars will open the vent after a predetermined time 15-20 mintues normally. The idea being that if its shut too long the way moden cars seal the elevated CO2 levels can start to affect concentration etc.... not to mention the smell issue mentioned previously...
