    rear beam bush replacement

anyone know if the rear beam bushes can be done with the beam on car ie drop one side slightly and get the old out and the new in without having to remove the entire beam? Or can the beam be dropped enough without having to disconnect all the brake lines? This is for one piece rear beam bushes.
    thanks

I was all set to do mine with the lines connected but I have stainless ones.

TBH I'd be banking on needing to split the pipes. Then be chuffed if you didn't need to.

Mine aren't either. I've basically re bushed/mounted the whole car and sometimes the back end just has a bit of a feeling of disconnect there. That's why I was thinking about a rebush.

I'd guess shocks rather than beam bushes???

I'm guessing you mean the weird, loose feeling at the rear, almost as if the rear beam is deflecting laterally?

I got the pineapple style bushes which fit in alongside the rear beam bushes. Made a big difference. Rear feels like it's attaché to the car now

Yep the feeling is what you described Blue9N3. I doubt its my shocks. I have a matched new set of B8's in there with new tops. I had looked at those whiteline bush shim things. Are they the ones that sort of fit in from one side and fill the voids in the standard bushes? They are pretty pricey though.

It's not the shocks, felt like rear steer, and if you think about it, you would effectively have the rear wheels steering opposite to the fronts on hard cornering.

I've heard that the full poly beam bushes are noisy and rough. No difference in NVH with the pineapples.
