Couldn't tell you but it was for Andrew macdonald and seeing they built so many, I'd say it's a safe bet.... Maybe....

    Hey guys,

Thought you might all be interested in this... In terms of group buying it could be really great. It's daily deals, but purely for the automotive market. As I am actually running it I'll be making sure there are lots of VAG items going on a weekly basis. This is the first of it's kind in Australia (and the world I think). I've had a heap of brands sign up so it can only be a win win. Check it out at AUTOsports Australia

If anyone wants to see a particular brand on offer please let me know and I will contact them.

    Hey guys,

New brakes (D2) should be arriving early next week. Apparently the pads aren't too good for track work (but fine for every day) so I'm going to get a set of QFM race pads to throw in and some new fluid and then I'll be down at Wakefield again to test the results. Can't wait. So far brakes have been the biggest issue so it'll be interesting to see how much later I can go under brakes.

Shouldn't really make much of a difference in terms of late braking performance. I have the 256mm on the front and they pull up great, I mean I was able to out brake pretty much everything at the last track day I was at. The issue will be doing that for more than 3/4 laps. I didn't have any brake fade at that point but they were clearly getting a little hot.

I'm suprised you didn't have brake fade, what speeds are you getting? From memory I was clipping 180 before braking on the straight, but my Speedo was probably 5% out, so maybe only high 160's down the straight. I would expect the GTI to be moving quite a bit faster and Eddy's K04'd GTI would be having to strip off some extra speed on top of that again.

Do you gents disable the ABS for tracking?

Trust me I will be able to go much later under brakes with the new ones. When the brakes were brand new I was going flat through the kink and then applying the brakes. Once they got heat in them I was having to back off through the kink and then mash the peddle. When are too inconsistent when driven really hard. If the standard brakes are working okay then you're not pushing it enough! My brother drives a Renault Clio Sport 197 thingo and when we swapped the biggest difference was the brakes. His standard Brembo package was much stronger. If fact neither of us really explored the limits of the Clio's brakes....

Sorry mate, I'm a driving instructor and a car developer on the weekends and quite a few of the porsches that I was running with on the day would probably be able to attest to how late I can come in under brakes.

The actual braking power isn't the issue with the brakes, Lakeside only has one hard braking point so fading brakes isn't as much of an issue, in the TDI I was up around the 170km/h down the end of the straight and around 160 coming under the bridge.

The braking power of the factory brakes is just fine, The issue comes with brake fade after a few hard laps. Honestly if you notice a difference it will be the change in compound and confidence in the brakes rather than an actual issue with the braking power of the factory brakes.

I take that back then! I agree compound would make a big difference but I plan to do lost more modifications down the line which is why I've opted for bigger discs, more pad area, clamping force etc. Just out of interest what times are you doing at Wakey?

Haven't tried Wakey yet, Lakeside we ended up in the 66 second region with the following mods:

    Flash tune
SEAT bushes and super pro Dog bone mount.
    Coilovers
    exhaust
    PD160 intake.
    4 year old Kumho V70A's
    Weight out of it.

Biggest issue was lack of front camber and lack of power. I will be coming down to Wakey next year at the latest. Was supposed to have the car down there for VW Nationals but I was stuffed around by a certain NSW wrecker.

I have to agree with Evaded. I have no idea of the power I'm making, but seeing the new clutch setup is performing well, I'll try get a run done.

I track race quite often (Regional Streetclass Series), and I find the stock 288mm rotors on my TDI are fine for around 2/3 laps, and then I've got too much heat in them. I'm doing around 190km/h speedo, at the end of the main straight, where I need to dump the speed right down. I was wanting to go 312mm a while back, then decided to go 323mm Brembo 4pots, which I have now put on hold. I'll be going for slotted 288mm's in a couple weeks, with good pad (Mintex / Hawk probably). I'm sure that will be enough with current mods etc. for now. I try to bleed the brakes after every race meet.

I race in a Regional series here in SA, called the Streetclass Series (formerly Clubmans Hatch Series) which I also raced in. A series designed specially for street cars and those who love their gymkhana days but want more track time.

Our National Polo Cup cars here, use a slotted 288mm rotor with Ferodo pad (sponsorship) so I'm sure I'll enjoy better braking moving to their setup.
