Damn, you guys know how to drive...

Stock rotors and pads? I can't comprehend how you managed to do this... with Stock setup my brakes were gone after 2 laps. With 312mm and OEM pads they were cooked after 3 laps.

    What rubber are you running?

"The brake set up at the moment is with the original rotors & calipers from new (58,000 km on the clock)."

O.K. standard set up, but tuned up, slotted the originals, DS3000 pads, MBF fluid, backing plates cut down & ducted cooling, 3" at the front down to 2" hitting the dics.
Now not good enough for this pace.

    Tyres = Bridgestone RE55's

P.S. The target at Wakefield Park for the 9N Polo is now sub 1:10.0 (9's) chaps.
Here's the direct link to Eddy's mod list for those who can't be bothered searching there
    Edd's lastest mod. list..

It helps put some perspective on the lap time (which still requires the driver to use properly use the handling/power)

Eddy, Just out of curiosity, are you using factory wheels (offset 43) with 15mm spacers?

    Thanks.

I think this is quite an important point for all those people contemplating fitting oversize brake setups. It demonstrates that the performance of the original sized rotors and calipers is more than adequate in terms of stopping power, even when doing VERY fast laps at a race track. For street use, the original brakes should provide more than enough stopping power (perhaps requiring a pad upgrade).

I believe that Eddy has now reached the limits for COOLING not stopping power - please correct me if I am wrong.

Goodday Han, ya spot on 43mm offset factory wheels using 15mm spacers front & rear,
but in saying this I did have 10mm on the front with the stock camber, then went to -2 degrees & beefed it up to 15mm.
Just recently went to 205/50/16's & had to bring the rear down to 10mm.

P.S. These aren't what I use on the track, me change to 17's, with -3.2 degrees camber.

How did ya know, right on the mark, still stopping beautifully, just scary double pumping when doing those sort of times.

That now gives me a problem as to upgrading the brakes, I'm adament as to keeping the originals wheels, me like & it makes her a sleeper.
Brembo & AP Racing can't help me, if Alcons made a kit to suit I would have them tomorrow,,,,
    Anyone got an answer.

Bugracer, please don't get cranky at me for this thread has gone off your topic.
As I have done a lot of mucking about (which I like doing) to get these times
& when you do it with the stanard engine tune you'll be the grinner.
So keep it going & keep us upto date, hey.
