The three south east queensland circuits aren't particularly brake hungry, so that may also be the difference of opinion here. Lakeside is a big lunge off the straight into a hair pin, than you're off the brake for 20sec till under the bridge. And another ~40secs to the straight again. Having not driven wakefield, it may be a different battle ground

I got the 304mm ones but I can get 330, 356, 380 and even 400mm.... which I can't see going on anything except maybe a show car. They are bloody huge!

Hmmmm, might be interested in some 330mm size oneday. Thinking of some 2 piece, Im sure they are cheaper than most of the 2 piece rotors out there, the ECS ones aren't that cheap by the time you get them here

Oh just read up on them, might be to thick 32mm?

Rotor thickness isn't the issue - the caliper will fit around them just fine, it's making sure you've got the wheel clearance. I would think the 330s would require 18" wheels. In saying that they may fit inside certain 17s.. Just so you know, the 330mm kit has an 8 spot caliper and RRP is $2400. There is also a fully floating disc option on the 330mm too. There will be sales from time to time and a group buy would definitely make things cheaper.

I'm looking forward to testing these things next week although it might be a couple of months before I hit the track again for the real test.

Lol... to Alcon and Brembo's specs, for the Golf GTI and R, the correct number of pots are 4. So 6 pots on a Polo is already overkill. 8 pot is just being silly

And more pistons doesn't necessarily mean bigger brakes... for those who aren't aware most pistons simply spreads the load on the pad and distributes it more evenly. It's not about more clamping load. That is why the good calipers have different sized pistons to counter the taper on the leading/trailing edge. The pads on the D2 6 spots are a standard sized pad actually the same as AP/Brembo and a whole host of other brands.

Finally got the brakes fitted. Went on without any fuss although some slight wheel clearance issue (caliper to spokes) meant I have had to add some small spacers to bring the wheels out a touch. Am buying some 17x8s later so this isn't an issue, will just need to make sure the new wheels have the right offset.

First impressions were great. Pedal feel was much better and initial bite was much better too. Have only driven 5 kms so not going to go pushing yet. I'm also running the standard pads which are fine for every day driving but rubbish for anything else. AM having some new pads made which I'll be selling with the kits just for track work.

Looking forward to heading track side with these once I get the new pads. I should have the rear sway bar on my then too!
