    Problems with my GTI

    Hi guys,

I'm a long term lurker, but first time poster after a little bit of advice. The story:

I bought my GTI new in August '08

From new it has leaked oil. It has been back 5 times, 4 to the dealer I bought it off and the last time it went to a different dealer. The last time went in on the 29th of December, and came back leaking. Every time I pick it up they tell me that it has been fixed.

I spoke to the dealer principal after the first couple of times, and I just get told to bring it back and they'll look into it.

I contacted Volkswagen Assist multiple times, all they say is that it's not their problem and to see a dealer.

I called them today and they said I can't drive the car because of the leak, and that it needs to be towed to a dealer. I called all the dealers withing driving distance and they are all booked out fo two weeks.

The car has been unroadworthy for most of the time that I've had it, and all I hear is "take it back to a dealer". In total it has spent over a month sitting in service centre's.

What are my options? Does anyone have any advice? Almost at my witts end

I get told a different story just about every time:

    - Turbo inlet pipe
    - Turbo boost pressure pipe
    - Drive shaft seals
    - Gear box seals

My advice is have Jmac look at it before it goes into the dealers next and see what he says it is. Could be your 5th different leak or one that they've had a poor attempt at fixing several times.

    Try Jimmy.

I hear that stem cell research is really progressing well now Robin. Maybe it won't be too long now.

get one or two different mechanic inspect the problem, then go back to VW & tell them the problem. Then if they don't do it, speak to the Area Manager.

Tell the dealer if its not fixed within a week you are going to park it
out the front of the dealership with a big lemon on top and contact the local media.
That's really not exceptable what you have been through.
