gti petrol filter replacement

I bought a petrol filter some time ago and was going to put it on last night.
so how do you get the old one off?
those plastic black things holding it on are a royal pain in the bum. i could get one end off (the front end) but i gave up on the back one - i was about 3 seconds away from breaking it.

There's a little release tab on the connector itself. You just push it in while pushing the fuel filter into the connector and you'll be able to pull the filter out.
