but that's the beauty of automotive passion. you have cars which people consider as utilities and you have cars which others consider them as love interests. i'm not generalising but more, using an example. realistically, i can get a bus/train where i want in sydney, but driving a car that you've put hours of effort into to get it exactly to your taste, desire, is so much more satisfying.

For the same principle that automotive racing appeals to some and seems mindless to others.

oh, the only reason why i want to phatten my mk2 is to get power down/grip. also, any cosmetic mod is purely cause there's so much bloody rust hiding underneath

This discussion is whether you spent more money/time to modify your Polo AFTER purchase.

When you buy a bottle of wine, you do not modify/enhance it after purchase. You just drink it and (hopefully) enjoy it.

Not 100% true either Green. Some people might buy a wine and then sit on it for a few years to enhance it before consuming it. they might go even further and invest in a wine cellar to optimise the process?

The point of my original comment was more about "each to their own tastes". I personally havent spent a cent on alcohol in the last 25 plus years. I think its a waste of money and causes lots of social issues etc etc. What Ive saved on alcohol I can afford to waste on cars instead

the way i see it, plain and simple -

some people don't want to "waste" money on cars because, yes definitely true, you don't get your money back in resale. however, buying a car and modding it to your style and taste is a lifestyle choice. people spend money on gardens, people spend money on renovating property, people spend money on designer clothes, because thats what they like.......we spend money on our beloved cars! i feel that for the money that you will lose in resale is definitely worth the time spent driving a car specced to you! not to forget the appreciation of your ride from family, friends, and fellow tuners.

remember, most things you spend money on, you will not get your money back, so why not spend a bit more and make the most of it.

I'd say have a little bit of both. But definitely get some power first. Once you have the go, then give it some show.

The first mod I did was the Revo Technik flash....next on my wish list is some light weight black rims. (My car is black).
