    Porsche Teledials on a 9n3

    Hi Everyone. I am planning on putting some 16 inch teledial wheels on my 9N3 polo with some H&R Porsche hub adaptors and some H&R Springs.

    The Wheels are 16x7 52.3et on the front and 16x8 52.3et on the rear.

    Has anyone ever done this? or if this has already been talked about could someone please share the link?

    This is the first wheel change I have ever done and I am just unsure as to whether there would be enough room under the guards for these wheels. I really don’t want to cause any issues with rubbing etc.

    If anyone could give me some advice on tyres that would work well or how big a hub adaptor I should go with, it would be much appreciated.

    Welcome, nice bunch of old VAG's you've had (newbies post).

    16x7 and 16x8 should be fine. I'm running 8's all around and reasonably low.

    For 8's, you'll want your offset around 40, which therin lies the possible issue. Adaptors are usually more than the 12ish mm thick, so I think you might struggle to tuck them properly.

    Not seen it done here, but Polo UK might have some help. As you're stock height, you could poke a bit, but it could easily look odd. The guards can be rolled, but then you're heading into stance works. Other thing that might work is using the adjustable top mounts to help the fronts tuck.

    Will you be dropping it later? Need to get the offset just right if you're going low as well.

    Thanks noone, I'm planning on dropping it 30mm with some H&R springs before I put the new wheels on. I would obviously prefer coilovers but I am trying to keep this project as cheap as possible, whilst trying to make it look half good. (could go to coilovers later on)

    Thats interesting that you think I will trouble tucking the wheels. I thought I would have more trouble with them hitting the inner wheel well. Shows you how new I am at this. The smallest adaptors I can find are 15mm so I will most likely have a problem with the 8's.

    What offset would you recommend for the 7's?

    Some of the other boys run more poke than I do, but I rub on the inner lining at the back with 215's over bumps. My offset if 38 on 8's.

    So, for the same offset on the front, you could remove 12 (1/2 inch give/take) so, 38 on 8's becomes 26.

    You may be able to get away with 20 on the front and 32 on the rear with less lows, but expect a slight poke and maybe rub (someone will chime in with their experiences here). Stock shocks with short springs was OK, it shagged my shocks pretty quick, but I think it depends on your driving style and roads as others have had this combo for many k's reporting minimal issues.

    I ran H&R's on stock springs for a short while, wouldn't recommend it. Fine if only ever doing low speeds and don't push in corners, but at highspeeds on primary and secondary roads, pretty awful. It bounces all over the shop. I now run bilstein struts and very happy with it. But if you're budget constrained, I'd probably go a cheap coilover (that's the first I've ever suggested that approach ). Quite a few are running cheap coilovers with little complaint and seem to be lasting well.

    Weitec are the cheapest thing I'd recomend, but FK's and a few others have had good feedback. I'd steer clear of AP.
    DPM performance in the UK is your best bet, you could email Damien and ask if he has anything going cheap, but expect to spend $500- $1000 landed.
