POLO worries

Mates got a 99 polo auto with Minnerali crappy electronics the distributor failed as its got a self aligning oillite bearing under the rotor button that just wears out as there is no lube or service warnings on these gadgets .
It flops about till it stuffs the hall sensor & the engine stops looks like just junk Itialian ignition stuff got a bad name in this field . Has anyone replaced theirs with a bosch distributor & are they beter looks like the prices are about the same . Just wondering ??

There is a Bosch variant for that engine mate , same part number as the Magnetti Marelli but the last to letters are AB. Still uses the MM ecu. Im sure the dizzy set up inside is very much the same though.
