p.s. josh- small world- i know a mate of yours from school- matt (drives a green falcon). he showed me your pog going down a stair. SUCH a euro look- good pic. (pretty sure its on the kmac springs).
    is that monohan?
haha its not going down a stair, its a driveway, cool optical illusion however! That has to be my favourite photo of my car!

Kmac's are still in it keeping that set up, sits pretty!

I believe even with a new turbo, you wouldn't get much past 170 BHP with stock injectors mate With the mods you have, (FMIC, exhaust, intake) I'd seriously consider getting a second-hand set of either PD130 or PD150 (same part no.) injectors, and you should be good for 195ish BHP. The stock PD100 injectors can only fuel till around 165ish BHP I think.''
I also read that the KKK ones are not that reliable, bearings would wear out, I got mine chipped some days ago anyway. If it blows I'll put a VB from a 150hp engine.
A guy I know with a polo BLT 96kw engine came out 156hp (stock), that same polo runs atm 195hp, this with an added miltek.
Another guy got 146 hp on a stock (with KKK) BLT engine.
My tuner told me my car was running at 2800mbar stock, I saw the file myself, he couldn't believe it, either could I.

hey decat, that's pretty interesting stuff- it sounds like you got yours tuned on a rolling road?

unfortunately, and even though i've read up as much as i can on the subject, i dont think there is anyone in australia that i would trust my tdi to when it comes to rolling road- this is also a big part of the reason why i went with chippeduk. gt3's 'evolve technik' has piqued my interest, though.

ive been running my car between fast road and race maps for ........ going on 3 months now, i think, and not an issue with turbo as yet (although the idle turbo whistle on race map is insane, dont know what to make of that).

how in the hell is your car running at 2800mbar? that's like 40psi! what kind of hp and torque are you putting out on the dyno? i'd be very interested to know

also, decat- im not sure if i've seen you on tdi club, but one answer i cant get from them when i ask 'if you've got vnt15, uprated smic or fmic, and exhaust, would pd130 or pd150 injectors net just a little bit more gains?', no one seems to know the answer- instead, they just say "ugh you're annoying use search".

i think its because they know everything about alh's and bew's, but the only people with axr's seem to be guys with hybrids (gt17/22's and up) that are re-worked to the craphouse- further than i want to go.

have you looked into the idea of pd130 injectors? any arguments for/against?

i was thinking bigger holes= slightly more hp, regardless of how many hp our cars stock injectors can support. i've heard that there's less low-down torque as a result of larger injectors, but that you get it back up top.

any input would be great! cheers.

Mine hasn't been tuned on a rolling road, the guy hasn't got one yet, it's on order and should be delivered by september. I'm going back afterwards to roll and update the software if necessary.

He read my software while driving, checking what pressure the turbo gave etc. Once back to his home / service he uploaded my car's software to his computer and started changing values in some kind of 3d program. Quite impressive but to be honest I don't know much about it. From time to time he explained what he was doing. Afterwards he loaded the new program into my car and we went for another drive, seems there was a bit smoke so he adjusted the program again. Then we did the 3rd and last drive, he was satisfied, and so was I
He thinks I'm at +- 170hp. Will know the exact figures after september....

My turbo also whistles alot while idling, this is due to the EGR valve which has been closed for 85%, via the software.
On my stock engine the turbo also started whistling when engine was idling like 2 minutes, this due to the EGR valve which closed himself for some kind of reason.

Well, the first test on the road gave a peak at 2800mbar or 1.8 bar (without atmospheric pressure)
After the mapping I'm at 2700mbar or 1.7 without atmospheric pressure.

the pic you see is the log of turbo after mapping, my mapper told my that within some time the ditch after the peak would go away, had something to do with the turbo.

I did not upgrade my SMIC, but I made airflow go better by installing the windcatcher of the Ibiza FR PD130 + I used a dremel to make some holes in the front of my car (the part where the put the fog lights), I also made holes in the wheelcompartiment so the air can escape much easier.
My mapper tested this on another vehicule, airintaketemp decreased +- 25° while charging the turbo quite heavy, this compared to a car without these selfmade mods.

As I have a BLT engine I have PD130 injectors, a guy I know (also friend of my mapper) told me that the PD130, PD150 and even the PD160 of the Ibiza Cupra D share the same injectors.

The injectors of the PD130 can go safe upto 210 or 220 hp, though another turbo, FMIC, exhaustline and clutch ( mind the torque / +- 475 nm ) will be needed.

A Cupra D (PD160) will also give max 220 after being mapped (just a remap)

Well, that's quite a post I wrote here
I hope it's not off topic

now THOSE are numbers I want to make!

who is your tuner and what mod's do you have on your car?! (I'm assuming its a Polo?)

sorry if you have already been over this!

    I have a Polo TDI 96kw.
    Not much mods

    Ibiza FR air guide
    Cupra D air intake
drilled some holes in the wheel arch so the air from the SMIC can escape and removed some plastic in the front of the SMIC, still has to be completed though.

    And remap last week:

    done at http://www.apecbelgium.be/chiptuning.html

thanks for your detailed reply, decat.

1.7bar = roughly 24.6 psi- im not too sure what the standard safe boost spike limit is for the pd130 turbo, obviously it would be more than that of the turbos in the pd100's like josh [golfman] and myself have.

i've seen some 3d boost maps on tdiclub before- it looks like fascinating stuff and it'd be awesome to learn what it all means, let alone see someone do it in the flesh (the actual mapping, like your tuner did, not just uploading the map into the obdII port).

when your tuner got rid of some of the smoke- i've heard of smoke maps, but how did he do that? do you know if he was simply playing with the injection quantity? or was he playing with timing as well?

are you losing any hp or nm as a result of lessened fuel/ smoke?

one thing i've been aching to find out is, if you increase fuelling to the point that you start producing smoke, are you getting more hp? i'd say yes- thats why all the guys on tdiclub seem to make uprated injectors, their first mod.

however, does reducing smoke also mean reduced fuelling and thus horsepower? ive got alot to learn about diesel tuning and fuelling/ smoke.

what do you have planned next?

    cheers!

It was ineed possible to follow every step he did, that's also one of the reasons why I when do them, they never upload a remapped file to a car.
Every vehicule which leaves their service has his own written remap, started from the original file of the car.

Now you started about smoke maps, I did saw him creating a map named 'smoke' but I don't know what he adjusted in that map.
After the second test on the road he adjusted some values to reduce smoke but don't ask me what he changed, I'm a complete noob regarding that kind of stuff but I do think reducing smoke is reducing power.
But I prefer lesser smoke instead of more power

As he told me the PD160 intake does reduce smoke abit too.

I don't have much plans next, put it on rolling road after the summer.
I would like to do lot's of things (hybrid turbo, reinforced clutch, kw suspension, fmic, nice wheels) but I don't have the urge to put lot's of $$$ in it so it will probably stay like it is now.
