    Polo TDI 1.9, 2008

Engine is not level but low at gearbox end, mounts look fine, is this normal. Fitted cam belt & pump kit in-car, is there knack to remove the engine mount bracket once unbolted, it's a tight space.

Where can I find free pdf repair & parts manuals?

    Lawrence: Hi.

I have not done an engine remove for a MY08 Polo. The degree of difficulty changes with the installed engine type - of course (you haven't said which engine is in this car - I'm not sure how many TDI engines were built for this car)

Anyhow- in regard to your other question, the repair manuals for Rest-of-World (RoW) model cars which VW sell in Australia can be found at ERWIN-here. It's a subscription based service - so you will need to register and pay.

ERWIN offers a number of different cost-based products - but if you just want the repair manuals, I suggest that you select the flat-rate option. This allows you access to the site for a period of time- after which you will be automatically logged-off.

For your wants and assuming average on-line searching skills, the lowest time-based option (which is 1 hour) should be more than enough if you have NBN access speed. The current cost of 1 hour access is just 7.00 € (i.e. only about $11.50 AUD)

A few hints from my experience with ERWIN for your consideration:
    • When registering, make sure that you select the proper language, it's under "Settings" - ERWIN doesn't have Strine (look it up!) so you will need to settle for English
    • Before you login to the site, have the car VIN handy - this is the reference data that identities the correct repair manuals for your vehicle.
    • When you are logged-in, don't waste subscription-time by looking at stuff about specific diagnostic problems - your ONLY objective while your time-based subscription is active is to download as many of the repair manuals as possible onto your laptop/PC. ALL VW service manuals have a .PDF format - so they can be easily read!
    • I'm not sure about a MY08 Polo - but for the later cars, VW's name for their wiring diagram manuals is "basic information". I have no idea why- so make sure that you download a copy of this very useful document!
    • Once you have a library of service manuals loaded locally (and probably after the subscription-time has lapsed) - you can query the material locally (off-line)

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.
