A few people have mentioned recaro seats.

Do recaro make seat rails to suit the polo? Would love sports seats from the perspective of support, aesthetics. Comfort not so much as I don't drive very far often.

Also - just wondering if the airbag sensor would apply to my car, given I don't have an airbag in my polo.

From my dealings with Recaro so far, there certainly is a seat rail for the Polo which costs about $400. They even have seats that are TÜV certified for the 9Nx Polo (check out the 'Pole Position' model which has belt guides specifically designed for standard 3-point seat belts and is available in a black leather or velour finish).

I am personally considering the SP-A which allows for a 6-point harness, or the SR11 which only allows for a 4-point harness but looks much nicer and has an angle-adjustable back rest.

Polo GTI owners will probably love the SR11 as the black with red stitching is a perfect match for the stock GTI interior.

How much for the SR11? As I already have harness points in my car.

I've been quoted about $2700 for the SR11, which includes the black leather & red stitching. There is a black velour/cloth version also available which is about $1800 from memory.

Do you have a 4 or 6 point harness? Where did you mount the points - I am assuming I'll need to install a half-cage for the shoulder mounts?

It's a 4 point. Lap points are welded on the floor behind the driver seat and the shoulder points are welded in the crack of the back seat. One is a real pain in the a to get at...

For competitive motorsport events I doubt it would pass because the angle of the shoulder belts is to great. But for track days its sweet. So you'll need to install a half-cage for mounting points if you want to enter events.

At this point I would like to add this small safety disclaimer:-

Please don't wear a harness if you don't have a full rollover protection style cage. You'll snap your neck. The only thing that'll save your ability to ever walk again in a rollover in a car with no cage is your standard seat belt's ability to let your shoulders move down and sideways. Being fixed upright in your seat while the roof comes crashing down is potentially fatal.
