    Polo reversing camera recommendations

Has anyone fitted a reversing camera to their 9N of 9N3 Polo?
Any recommendations on model, mounting location and mounting method?
I was thinking that keeping it mounted to the bumper would make the wiring much simpler, maybe within the number plate recess?
Will a 170 deg camera function well enough mounted that low on the vehicle?
Want to keep it as discrete as possible.

    Keen to here thoughts

I can't think of anyone that has fitted one on a Polo.

Maybe I am old school but in such a small car is it really necessary?

Well probably not hey. Back end of the polo is as flat as a... Flat thing. Would be interested in seeing a build with an android head unit!

I'm used to having a camera since my Hilux has one factory fitted to the tail gate so even though the Polo is short its kind of comforting having it there, plus, the Android head unit I have fitted automatically switched to it when in reverse so I may as well have an image from the back of the car as look at an exclamation mark on the screen saying the camera isn't working.

Found this so might have to give it a go.

I was going to try one but as it will only be about 500mm of the road it wouldnt be worthwhile.

Mine came with one as part of the aftermarket head unit. Some china spec thing, I think it was 'mongoose' brand.
The camera was mounted just above the number plate.
Visibility was good, did what it was designed to do.
Unfortunately the head unit itself was the biggest piece of ****. I turfed it and found/fitted a stock head unit.

I dont know about cameras.. But wasnt a parking sensor an option on some of the euro delivered cars? Im sure ive seen oem parking sensor kits on ebay and parts websites.

Personally i hate waiting for the cameras to switch on and would rather just use the mirror and a look over the shoulder

I'm currently looking into this. Haven't found a head unit with Android Play that I like, but a couple of the Sony's have Mirror Link and NFC, which pairs well with their phones and would probably suit my needs much better. Not to mention the screen on the Sony XAV712BT is far better than anything else I have looked at so far.

If anyone has a recommendation for a reversing camera for a 6R, it would be appreciated. The car is so small it's not a total necessity, but it will drive me insane having the reversing camera icon just sitting on my head unit doing nothing.

Maybe I am too old, why are you looking at the head unit while reversing? There must be a way to stop it flashing up in the set up somewhere.

I worry about all the driver aids these days, you can just sit in the middle lane with active cruise on and not even touch the controls. It's going to end badly one day, I am sure.
