    Polo replacement batttery.

    Hello

hav a question regarding replacement battery for the polo gti. I believe my battery is on the verge of its death bed. As it looses charge after 2-3 days. And after a headache from a recent 10 days trip away, returning to the carpark to find it totally flat.

I have just called vw and been informed that the batt itself is 270 dollar woth install being 65. Is there a cheaper (better value) options avaliable that people can recommand??

    Supercheap or Autobarn

    Get a DIN53L if you wanna be a cheaparse. ($200) (500cca)
    or
    Get a DIN65L if you wanna be a smart person. ($225) (650cca)

    And put it in yourself.

    Why so expensive?

I know its not a 20 year old toyota, but surely you don't need a battery that costs over $200!

Isn't it the alternator that does most of the electrical work once the motor is turning?

    Thanks Kai!!!

Is there any difference between the brands? Or are they all just rebadge of each other? I've called and get brands like repco battery, century, ...etc And for all the 65l. They hover around 220 dollar.

Ps: just got a call back from classic chatswood and they wanted 360 for the battery alone. Is the sales guy on crack??? That's 100 more then their denlo brother.

    Thanks

Well. Most are made in the same place. But the cheaper ones. I know you can get repco / sca branded din65l's for $25 less then the century. But the century you get an extra 2 years warrenty. So too me thats worth it. Oh and you get 150 extra cranking amps. So that batteries going to last longer also.

Agree, $$200, unless he is keen on powerful stereo setup, why is this over a $100 Exide batteries and the such?

I choked at spending 160 on one for my Ibiza. That would be a similar size. A comparable battery in the UK would be under $100, even something from Bosch.

$300 is the price to include the drugs the parts guys is obviously taking.

Ha Ha that's a good one Gavin. Yep, the guy must be on drugs. Even if dealers buy in different numbers and get charged differently (as I was told), it shouldn't result in that kind of discrepancy. So yeah, either the dealer is profiteering or the parts guy is hallicinating from drugs.

just bought a battery today, and is trying to figure out how to remove the cage on the top of the battery. I got the side ones out. Does anyone know how to unclip the back (closest to the air intake?)

    Cheers

PS: For those who are looking for batteries. I did a further research after Kai's post. Repco's battery is a rebrand of Century. Repco's DIN65L offers 24months warranty as Century.
