    Hey Alfie,

    been there, done that!

How did you get over 170kw's at the flywheel on a K03?

Also the stock injectors are plenty big enough for a K04, and the air mass meter, they actually have a heap of headroom left over.

You will see how our car progressed, that we had to redo quite a lot of the stuff once we started hitting the track.

Believe me, you will need a caliper change for any serious track work as well, and also buy the best, stickiest tyres you can.

    No worries. Thanks for that.
Will be interesting to see how Alfie goes with his.

Also possibly see what APR can offer. Spoken to Guy about options. Will weigh it all up when the time comes.

Back on topic, can't wait to see pics and results when everything's done. This sounds like it's going to be a monster.
    Cheers,

    John

Personally I think the chassis has too much flex: Strut braces, whilst you're there, swaybars...

Some of the mounts are too flexible for the extra power: Control arm and engine mount bushes.

Sounds like a good project mate, looking forward to some progress news!

Gday hows it going. 170kw at the fly is about 230hp which is said to be the max output for the Ko3s. Sounds like your doing everything the right way.
Let me know how it all goes very interested.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys. I really appreciate the support. Yes Josh.. The pics will be up soonish.. The PSS9's have arrived today and will be put on tomorrow. I will keep updates on what upgrades are being installed as i progress to the build-up.
Currently running falken semi-slicks for road and Toyo R888 medium compound for the track..
I am thinking of getting brakes from a Porsche Boxter or similar, i am still researching. I am currently running on the Evolve Technik Stage 1 tune on the car. I have arranged for them to custom tune the car that will be written from Germany.
Will be updating and reporting on a weekly basis. Thanks guys... Keep sending in sugestions and idea's...

    Keep on

The APR website claims 152kw for their Polo tune. Isn't that figure quoted from the flywheel?

From all the dyno results I've seen 152kw at the fly averages out to be 120kwatw. So 32kw(21%) is lost through the drivetrain? Lets say you add a FMIC, full exhaust and TIP which gives you 142-145kwatw. 21% of 142kw is 29.82kw. 142 + 29.82 = 171.82kw at the fly..............

Best we ever did see (on a car with dyno's done at each stage) was 135 - 140kw (wheel) with the K03.

It takes a K04 to hit 150kw's at the front wheels (with supporting mods).

I'm not talking about one off dyno's either, just from what we have seen & the "Polo Only" dyno day we ran a year or two ago!

My Polo with the k03s, pod filter and 3" downpipe reach 165kw at the flywheel.
But if the dyno is telling the truth is other history.
    Today with the k04 I have 215kw.

    1. weld the turbo on or something ...otherwise you'll have the dreaded loose bolts at some stage...well, you need to consider this from the start!
    2. your choice of brakes will limit your choice of wheels, so take care on this. IMO, 8L S3 disks and calipers will meet your needs and give you a lot of wheel choice.
    3. talk to Whiteline about bushes etc, and get the APR dogmount
    4. R888's are fine on the track, also Kumho V70's as James mentioned, but get rid of those horrible, hard, gripless, useless noisy Farkens

    Good luck!
