I've got exactly the same issue. Any fixes would be great, it's been driving me nuts since I got my Polo.
mine looks like that since new...

I use a general purpose cleaner and then protect it with OCW -- Makes them look how they're supposed to.

I started using turtle wax ice liquid wax a few months ago. I think its a good product because u can apply it to shine/protect pretty much everything on the car. It works well on rubber and plastic.
I use it on the rubber trim around the windows and they come up perfectly, it lasts for ages too (this sounds like an ad for turtlewax). It works well tho...
Has anyone had a problem with a knocking in the front suspension when going over small bumps at low speed?
I get that, but it happens so rarely.
Check the tie rods to the front sway bar. They may need some adjustng, or you may need to get adjustables (no big deal)

Hi all,
Just recently, and about 75% of the time, I'm having great difficulty in selecting 1st gear. It's a 1.6 with rod selectors. There's no crunching and all other gear changes are OK. I've got a Haynes manual which has an adjustment procedure for the rod selectors, but their drawing looks nothing like the mechanism below the gear lever gaiter. Totally different design.
Does anyone know how to adjust these linkages, or alternatively, know of a reputable VW mechanic in the estern suburbs of Melbourne.
cheers
