    MAKE - 2010 (9N3) POLO TDI 1.9 (yes it is a 2010 9N3)
    KMS - 27000
    CAR USAGE - DAILY
    Problem:
Car alarm going off for no apparent reasonand inconsistently. e.g. 3.30 am last night It happens anytime about once a week at the moment and has been like this for about 2 months.
    Fix:
Going to VW Village on Saturday to assess.
They mentioned adjusting sensitivity. But this was not a big problem before. Will ask them to check door sensors and (if it has one) bonnet switch. I suspect it’s a loose connection or faulty switch.

Dealer ship want to charge $150 per hour to diagnose!

Has anyone here dad a problem like this?
    Any help would be awesome.
I’ll Post the remedy when we work it out.

Are your windows up or down when this happens? Anything close to the car that could be swaying in the wind (branches / curtains)? Could be the internal sensor being overly sensitive. Mine would trigger when the window is down a bit, the car is locked and people walk past.

I'm assuming the TDI has the internal sensors like the GTI.

    Thanks for responding Seangti,
Windows are up. The internal sensor was always very sensitive especially when the windows were even slightly down. This problem happens when it’s no where near anything. It could be parallel parked on a quiet street or in a car park away from passing cars. It really is quite strange. I’ll get them to lower the sensitivity of the internal sensor for sure.

VW Village checked out my Polo TDI today. They ran diagnostics and found the Alarm Horn was causing the alarm to intermitently trigger. I forgot to ask the guys where the alarm horn is so I can disconnect it until I get a replacement. Does anyone know where it is on a 9N3 Polo TDI and does any have any idea on the approximate price of an original part?
    Any help would be awesome.

    MAKE: 2006 Polo GTI 9N3
    KMS: 104,000

    CAR USAGE: Daily
    PROBLEM:

Hi guys, been having a few problems with my Polo for a while now.
Basically at the moment the car has a loud screeching noise under high throttle (I suspect a boost leak but hey I'm no expert). Additionally, the turbo does not seem to be spooling up as quickly as it used to. For example, when I first purchased the car, gentle acceleration in 2nd gear would have the turbo spooling up nicely - could hear it very prominently over the engine noise. Currently you can't hear the turbo spooling at all all the way through 2nd gear (almost to redline) but I do get the horrible screeching noise. The same is true for almost all driving situations EXCEPT putting it into 5th at say 80km/h and applying half throttle, you can hear the turbo spooling nicely. Sometimes low to medium throttle in 4th gear at medium speeds (say 70-80km/h) will have the turbo spooling nice and smooth.
FINALLY, the car seems to have a very subtle misfire at idle. Sitting at the lights the car will be idling at say 750/800RPM, then sporadically drop about 50-100 RPM and pick up again. I'm not sure if this occurs at a regular intervals. I can only describe it as an occasional stutter in the idle.

Any thought on what could be wrong with my beloved Polo? I've done a heap of research and can't find much.
    Appreciate your help guys
PS: I hope I've put this in the correct section and format. I'm a forum newbie
    Cheers

    Flat Battery

    MAKE: 2007/8 Polo GTI 9N3
    KMS: 65,000

    CAR USAGE: Once a week
    PROBLEM:

Guys, my Polo refused to start a couple of days ago and putting a multimeter across the battery terminal was showing less than 12V ( I can't remember the exact figure ). So I put a battery charger (with the battery terminal still connected to the car electrical system) across the battery terminal to charge it overnight. But the battery charger "charging" indicator has gone off when I checked this morning and the battery is still not fully charged. I thought that perhaps my battery charger is faulty so I borrowed another charger from my in law (he had the exact one as mine) but his battery charger is doing the same thing. I went out a couple of hours ago and when I got home, the battery charger is no longer charging the battery.

At the moment, the battery is showing 10.8V and the car won't start with such low voltage.

I have only owned this Polo for six months so this is all very new to me. I have always owned Japanese cars in the past but none with such sophisticated electrical/electronic system. Perhaps I should have asked this question a couple of days ago. Is it okay to charge the car battery with a "normal" battery charger???

I hope it is just a dead battery, and not something worse.

    Any suggestion will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a dead cell in the battery to me!

Thanks, it does seem that way.

I managed to get the car started yesterday. With the car started, I am observing >14V when testing with a multimeter over the battery terminals so the alternator must be fine. I drove the car out for nearly an hour thinking it should charge the batttery. When I came back and stopped the car, the car won't start again and the battery voltage is showing less than 11V again.

What brand batteries and capacity do u guys use for a Polo GTi?

I think it's a min 200cca, check what you currently have or ask at a battery shop and they'll provide what's required. Yup, sounds like a dead cell.
