PROBLEM..Interior fan only operating on speed No4.
REMEDY.
The usual reason is a resistor, pull the glove box out to gain access & then have small hands.
Don't pull all dash apart like me did, the resistor from VW = $77.00.
Told by VW spares man that it was quiet common as it is put in there to keep cool & gets all the condensation from the air conditioning.

Problem: Knocking type noise from both front wheels when I go over sharp bumps in the road. Has been happening for some time now but is progressively getting louder. It sounds like the front suspension set up is going to fall out. I'm out of warranty so looks like any dealer work is going to come out of my back pocket.
Any ideas before I have the 60K service done?
Search for control arm bushes and drop links. Will probably be one or the other (or both). Lots of people have had to replace these (me included) and theres a few threads on it.Quote:

The other parts can definitely be effected, but less likely with stock suspension.
The droplinks can be seen pretty easily by turning the wheel full lock, hangs from the shock absorber casing to the end of the sway bar.
bearings dont seem to be as noticeable in a straight line, but can be noisy when turning hard or uneven road when turning

I did some looking into aftermarket bushes today and found Whiteline have a set for the polo but they say 02-06 model. The clip they have on youtube is an 06 onwards Polo Gti so I've sent them an email querying fitment. Just waiting to hear back from them.
If it turns out to be control arm bushes I'd rather go with something better quality after market than have stock ones fitted again.
Anyone had any experience with the whiteline bushes? There are quite a few of you on here with the Whiteline swaybars, if I go the route of Whiteline bushes I might get the sways too.
After reading about the knocking sounds, replacing the bushes and the engine mount was my 2nd mod. I've got the Seat bushes in mine but the Whitelines will do the same. I suggest you get the engine mount installed as well, made so much of a difference. Helps the Pog put the power to the ground. Including the sway bar, these are a must have IMO.Quote:

Problem: knocking from front end for last couple of thousand kms when at low speed, 1st, 2nd gear.
Resolve: local VW dealership took a look, identified the strut top mounts and bearings had worn. Ordered the parts, few weeks later all fixed under warranty, no questions or complaints. The front end now feels much tighter, wheel alignment leaves room for improvement but have only driven 5kms down the highway so far so may have to ask that that be sorted.
I don't want to have to pay for it if they wear out in another 27000, can't be a cheap exercise. Anyone had experience with these things prematurely wearing??
Yeah, I went through a set with the H&R's.
Unfortunately as you have altered the suspension, I would expect the dealership to say its because of your shorter springs.
There was talk of a group buy on an aftermarket version of the topmounts / bearings, not sure what brand they were.
It would not surprise me if you needed to replace them again in another couple of years.
I think the wear is accelerated by the mismatched spring / shocks. Couldn't say why exactly.
