    Polo Newbie

I'm looking to buy a new car and am considering a Polo. While doing my research, I went to the Australia's Best Cars website to see their ratings for cars (http://www.australiasbestcars.com.au...smallcars.pdf). For the VW Polo Match 1.6L Auto, they gave it a rating of 3/10 for fuel consumption. The car itself has a fuel efficiency of 7.6L/100km which seems to be better than a lot of cars - yet it still only got 3/10. Can anyone shed any more light on this matter?

Also how easy is it to get parts for a VW Polo and how much would it cost in comparison to your more widely available cars in Australia - such as the Holdens or Toyotas or Fords.

Any other suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated!

    Welcome Arnie

Well I take it your looking at the Match ?

    There are 3 versions 1.4 auto with 55kW, 1.6 with 77kW 6 spd auto(tiptronic) & 5spd manual.

    more specs http://www.volkswagen.com.au/pdf/Spe...2012.07.06.pdf

Now I think ABC tested the 1.4 Auto which actually is more efficent than the 1.6L engine so i have no clue how they gave Polo Match 7 points.

I don't think they have tested the 1.6 range yet

If your looking for efficency you should buy the TDI

    Thanks for the welcome!

According to my spec sheet thing I have, the 1.4 and 1.6L both have a fuel consumption of 7.6 for the auto. The 3/10 thing still confuses me but ah well.

LOL perhaps its against the other brands cause I know Ford Fiesta petrol is actually more efficent with its petrol engines than VW (shh)
thats because VW haven't brought their latest tech in engines here

    Polo FSI where are you

If you can wait 2 years a new Polo will be released with new engines, options etc
