if it was an older car, i would point at piston rings
Posting for a friend of mine..
"Hi
I have a Polo GTI, 35000 on the clock. GIAC software and decat done.
I have read a few threads on white smoke coming from exhaust when the car is idle. I have the same problem. But with me, when I am idling with the car on a hill/incline,then only do I get the white smoke coming out the exhaust. Its clouds and clouds of smoke, once I start moving it eventually clears up.
No loss of performance, everything is fine, oil levels are good, I dont know what the problem is!! And I am having trouble explaining this to VW. Can you please suggest what it could be. I know it sounds wierd that when the car is idle on an incline it does this, but thats just it. Its also not all inclines, just slight incline/unevenly parked.
Please help!"

did you check your coolant, white smoke could be evaporation of water?
has it got a particular smell to it?
Could be a faulty turbo seal too.
Previous Rides: Polo GTI, Mx5 10AE, MY05 WRX WRP10, Renault Sport Clio 172
Current Ride: Evo 8 MR, Fabia MK3
sup all,
u all know the issues i have had with my polo
turbo was replaced at 43000 KM as it seals was gone, car used to smoke all the time
the new turbo has 3500 KM on now, and yes when i park on an uneven/incline it did smoke once(almost in a mounting a curb position but car to the left )
it definately aint the turbo, im not worried as i know it aint serious. but when i get a chance and some extra time i will be sending the car in for a few tests.
in the mean time do you guys want to try park your pog in a similar position and let it idle and see if it smokes?
if if does happen maybe this is something we can bring up with VW?
