    Polo GTI vs TDI

    hey guys,

im new to this forum and to the vw scene,

i recently bought a brand new Polo TDI,

i have been browsing this forum for a little while and i notice that most of the mods and parts available are aimed for the GTI,

so my question: are parts interchangeable between the GTI and TDI, what are the differences; besides fuel, spark plugs etc...

    thanks for your help,
    James

welcome mate good choice car there, they are quite a fun car to drive those TDi Polo's!

are you going to get it chipped?

as for parts yes, most should be like brakes, suspension, bumpers all that kind of stuff should technically bolt straight on!

Welcome, James. Excellent choice of car ... hope we'll see some pics soon and maybe (when we get off our collectives ...) see you at a drive or GTG. What part of the country are you from? (Please update your details.)

AFAIK the GTI is the only Polo in our line up to get the life saving ESP system. Unless they just changed the line up for 2008 or something...

Comparing apples with apples, a chipped TDI = faster than the chipped GTI?

The TDI is a great car though, but I'm peeved off with VW for nerfing it (ESP/DSC/ESC or whatever you prefer to call it). My brother in Norway has a TDI, absolutely rocks, but their spec has stability control as standard.

Maybe I should be thanking the tendency of Australian importers to nerf our cars, I'd be driving the new Civic Hybrid otherwise. VSA (ESP!) is standard in pretty much all markets but our own. Civic would have been good, if but a completely different kettle of fish.

thanks for the quick replies everyone.

ive had a look around but its little hard to get a lot of info in one spot.

in regards to the ecu chip/flash what are the different brands and their respective prices vs results??

also another question; what size wheel/tyre do you all use for more performance handling?? i would tend to stick to the size of the gti wheel, is that a 17x7??

have many polo owners out their changed just your springs and not your shocks?? what sort of results have you got? what would be the better bang for buck suspension mods you can recommend??

    thanks for all your help

Polo GTI has 16's, but a increase to 17's wouldnt hurt
