    polo gti traction control light

my traction control light has turned on and wont go off. even when i press the button on the dash to turn it off. it used to turn in just for a few seconds when starting the car.
I turned car off and on again, but the light remains lit.
    anyone else had this?

Indicates a fault with the system, get it checked by the dealer or someone with a vag-com cable

I had it happen to mine once. I disconnected the battery, left the car sit for a few minutes, then re-connected it.

All worked well afterwards... so I can only assume it was a sensor that tripped it off and it just needed the ECU reset to resolve it.

quick update on what happened -
took it to get scanned which revealed that my brake light switch was stuffed.
which makes sense because my rear brake lights (but not the 3rd light) had failed to work.
switch replaced, lights work again and dash light no longer on.
    end of saga

yeah it was the traction control light ESP on the center console
and in the gauge cluster it was the light of the little car doing a burn out, the one that normally blink when you spin the wheels or corner too fast.
