I made a further change to my air intake..

I fitted my pod filter straight off the maf sensor (I also have fitting bolted up to MAf sensor).

I went to bunnings and bought a sheet of aluminium for $12. A bit of cutting and bending and hey preto a heat shield. I have the Pod filter on top of the stock airbox with the lid removed entirely. But the heat shield as a circle cut out for the Maf to slip through and the heat shield extend upwards to the height of the bonnet (when closed). It also bends around to go through the gap between the battery and airbox. (to make it higher)

Is it better than Panel filter/seat combo??? I think so as its a shorter route for the air to turbo, the pod would make it less restrictive and Ive shut out all the hot air under hood..

If anyone wants photos I can post.. Its a cheap mod, grab a pod filter and a sheet of aluminium and your done.

thats a nifty setup u got there petrina!

did you just sit the shield inside the bottom part of the airbox? ... and how do you compare this setup to ur previous one??

now i'm not sure if i should bother getting the 90degrees bend anymore and do this one instead...

Not sure which setup is better....

The BMC pod is now sitting on top of the airbox.

Im worried that the 90 degree bend might be hampering the flow of air when compared to the filter that is straight off the maf...

However, saying that the Filter up in the engine bay may draw warmer air. Then its a point of how effective is the heat shield.

Ill leave it the way it is now. Its at least as good as the seat/panel filter combo down low but a bit better up top and with better induction noise.

Since adding the Seat intake section and filter, I've noticed less drop in pressure that I had previously put down to heatsoak.

It has not been very hot since I've put the parts in, but would the increaced airflow mean less heat into the system? Would the turbo not have to work as hard now?

Trying to validate what i've experienced...
