    i dont belive much testing has been done in comparison.i know alot of the uk lads have got pods, though over here they seem to be prodiminantly seat intake/k and n filter setup and , bmc cda.

    Im going to get a adaptor from our maf that has a bend in it and put the whole put inside our airbox. Leave the SEAT intake feeding cold air to it..

    then just put a heat shield over the top of the airbox. leaving small exposure to under hood temps..

    With the pod there is a major case of spool up noise and blow off...

    performance wise I dontice no difference positive or negative.

    UK air intakes

    I have to say that I miss driving in the UK sometimes, driving in Australia just feels so slow in comparison to the speed you can get away with on the motorways. Police on the motorways will not pull you over unless you are doing better than 90 mph, the fast lane runs at around 100 mph. (mind you I have spent 6 hours stuck, ie no movement in traffic). Sorry off topic

    It is lots colder in the UK, flow considerations probably matter more than under hood temperatures. FMIC would have capacity to spare when fed refrigerator cold air.

    I imagine that pod setup on a polo would sound awesome, regardless - probably worth it on those grounds alone

    That's exactly what I'm working on. Have had my pod in the airbox for about 1 month. Very slight power gain but the spool up noise and flutter is awesome

    Will continue to modify until perfect then post pics once complete.

    Need some details JCM! It would have to be a pretty short bend as there doesn't seem to be alot of room. I pulled the airbox out the other day to have a look around.

    yeah i wondered about that too- regardless, the SEAT intake DID make an improvement when compared with the flaccid plastic OEM piece, so im happy.

    with regards to the trumpet narrowing to the same diameter at the airbox- a few of people on tdiclub have upgraded to r32 airboxes (but they dont really have polos on that site. maybe abit of DIY dremeling with a self fabricated grille->airbox trumpet, is in order?)

    Man I wish we could drive at those speed in Australia. Maybe thats an idea...Lets all rally for a full weekend of highway/freeway madness. LOL

    that would be fun- im scared of over 100kmh though, after having almost lost my licence once for 124kmh on the way to buller.

    thankfully they didnt see the one time i got to 175, nor the other i got to around 182km/h.

    I fitted an adaptor on my maf.

    A 90 degrees rubber 3 inch hose and a short piece of metal to a pod filter..

    the pod filter is completely inside the airbox.

    then on the 90 degree rubber where it mounts to our maf, I bolted up a heat shield over the top of the airbox.

    The spool up sounds like my old XR6T now..

    Its also very distinct when it blows off as well.. Plus I have a full plumb back bov.

    Performance wise maybe theres something right up top of the revs.. It doesnt back out of power like it used to after 5000rpm.
