Good luck with the new car.
Sorry, but to me they look like little station/sports wagons. Polo/Golf look like hatches, Mazda 3/Impreza look like little wagons.MPS 2.3T 4 door family hot hatch.
Well family circumstances have dictated we move from 2 cars to one for the next few years so my Polo Gti has been traded for a '08 ex-dealer demo Mazda 3 MPS.
My Polo was heavily modded most power coming from the APR ECU.
After two cold mornings of testing out the MPS I will say my Full respect to the Polo. 1st and 2nd gear in the Polo Gti SCREEEAAM the MPS I feel is not far behind but not quite as "spritely" I could get to 105kmph in 2nd in the Polo not so the MPS I gotta shift into 3rd at 80kmph. 3rd gear, 4th and 5th gear however is a very different story in the MPS...from 80kmph upward in 3rd this thing just rockets off. low end torque is awesome it has a very aggressive yet fun mid range power band. All those AWD'vers who bag it out too much pwr for a FWD well I beg to differ. I feel I have to learn to drive it as I did the Polo and try to tame the beast...he,he.
Thanks all for all advice and opinion on the Polo Gti over the couple of years.
I hope to be back with a late model 2010 polo gti in a few years...I'm thinking the 1.4TSI will certainly be more fuel efficient than the MPS 2.3T 4 door family hot hatch.
BTW I am putting up for sale 4 brand new un-used Dotz Hanzo rims from Germany for sale suited perfectly for the Polo. 18x8 5x100 etc...etc..
Details will be in the for sale section...send me a PM.
Cheers all
Good luck with the new car.

Sounds great and I'm sure you'll enjoy it
AFAIK, the ECU in the 3MPS limits torque in 1st and 2nd to prevent the car torque steering off the road. That's why it feels a little sluggish relative to the Pog

Plenty of good tuning options for MPS 3s... they do 160KW atw std (not in 1 or 2 which are restricted as Timbo says), but 200KW+ atw is easily achievable.
yeh.. great purchase i reckon.. u'll learn to love it even more soon.
A close of mine test drive the new mps earlier suggest a similar problem of the gearing ratio being too close, requiring the driver to shift very often.
Yeah Timbo is right, they do limit torques in 1st and 2nd. Not sure if I'd want to be mucking round with that, stick in into some corners without the torque being limited and I think you'll find a hedge where the passenger seat used to be.
Not sure if you've read about it, but check out the MPS forums about the faulty engine mounts. My best mate works with a guy who had his engine fall through the bay. Mazda wouldn't replace the car under warranty and apparently needed $15k for repairs, all covered by Mazda of course.
They are quick car though, glad you can still have some fun and not turn completely beige

im thinking of buying a mps 3 for the mrs. They are top cars. Ill keep the polo gti as i took it for a run tonight and it was very fiesty.
Nice choice. Definitely on my list of possible future cars. I really like the reserved styling and have seen how well they go when one went flying past me on the motorway a while back. Plus my last car was a 323 so I'm biased
