60mph is approximately 98.5kph. The difference probably equates to somewhere around 0.1 seconds.

Again - You're comparing modified cars (And at different levels of mods - Put that FMIC on your Golf GTI)

You could say a polo that runs 13.9 'struggles to do sub 14s' aswell. What a crock.

Compare a XR6T with a chip and your polo.
XR6t - Chip, exhaust, CAI, FMIC - 'Struggles to do 11s'

Well yeah...I own both and i must admit its hard to say the Polo is a better all round performer than the Golf....different cars, different price brackets....and they both kick ass in their own right.

The purpose of the comparison was demonstrate the importance of power-to-weight ratio. If you want to dismiss it as a crock, kai has 13.9 time sheets (no FMIC) and I have time sheets for 103 mph. No one is claiming the Polo outperforms those cars (or is better) - just acknowledging that it does extremely well for what it is.

The reason I've used stock stats on R32 and GT-P is just as a comparison of where the car sits in the scheme of things. ..and a GT-P is hardly meek and mild in stock form - 5.4-litre V8, 32 valves, double overhead cams, 302 kilowatts, 540 Nm, not to mention the rest!!!

If you read earlier comments posted, some have questioned whether the Polo can perform as well (if not better) than these cars. I've pointed out that it can, and it confirms what many of us have witnessed on race tracks and drag strips re GT-P, R32 and Polo GTI, the times don't lie. Just bc the Polo doesn't cost 60+K and isn't loaded with luxury features doesn't mean it hasn't the potential to perform well - even if it does annoy the hell out many ppl.

Quite agree, Tick. Welcome to the 'friendly' forum.
