At the end of the day a $27K Polo GTi with $5K of mods for a total of $32K is quicker than most cars costing almost double that. XR6Ts starts at $43K and cannot shake a Polo GTi with only an APR chip as a mod (all up under $30K).
When my Polo GTi still only had the chip it embarressed VZ SS's, XR8's, many Mk5 Golf GTis and especially a CV8 Monaro much to the delight of the w@n^%r driver's passenger. ...Twice....
With some more mods even VE SS's are fair game now......
Power to weight is the secret and the Polo Gti's only problem is traction off the line.
It comes down to Bang for your Buck and nothing beats the Pogo!

JimmyMac had a ride in my Pogo last saturday ... his comment was: "Great thing about these ... wheel in each corner (no overhang) and drive like a gokart." And he's right. (Now ... if I could just make it lighter by about 150 kgs ...

3 simple things to cut weight (if you need to):
1. Go for a smaller battery - usually the Odyssey 680 (not cheap anymore) but the new Pulse 400 (same thing) costs under $180 (Merdian Motorsport have tested it in race conditions and given it the thumbs up).
2. You'd be surprised how heavy the rear seat back rest is (larger one). It clips out pretty easy.
3. and of course, take out the spare wheel
Have any of you seen or been in or driven a fiesta XR4? That's a real f***ing girls car right there. Particularily in the red with white stripes, a guy I know has one and my god it is the worst 20k+ hatch i've ever been in, my dinosaur mk3 takes corners better, If only he had bought a polo...
God I can rant about how sheit that car is for a week. Seriously and if anyone has one here on this forum, sell it now before it depreciates any more and buy a pogo, I'm not apologising!!!
Thats a girls car, and it isn't even any good...
phew... yeah... buy a polo!
Uhhh, the XR4 Fiesta is actually quite a good car.
I used to own a run of the mill 2004 Fiesta LX (with plenty done to it, mostly visual and handling) and it was a fab little car.
Built very well, solid handler and quite gutsy for a 1.6L
I used to read about the ST fiesta (FoMoCo australia renamed it XR4) and it gets very high reviews.
I agree that they look pretty young and cheeky, which may not be to everyones taste.. especially with the stripes.
But they really are a great little hatchi.

Yeah, the XR4 gets some excellent reviews, with many noting it handles more sweetly than the Pog. I reckon it would make a great base for a single class production car series -- good chassis, nice, simple reliable motor with enough power, and probably a few more that can liberated for track use. I'd be into it (although I agree it could lose the decals -- that's not my cuppa).
The rest of this thread is very amusing. To me, making a derogatory comment about a car says much, much more about the speaker than anything else, but responding to it as many have suggested above is equally inane.
On a slightly different note, when I sell the Pog, I reckon I'll advertise it as a "VW GTI" and see how much I can get for it
I've driven one, been a passenger in one, and had to put up with one. They can't justify the price tag for the car that it is. The reviews have some good points, but they're overshadowed by most of the car's significant flaws. Just like every opinion of a car it isn't completely justified until you've driven it. I think its absolutely awful car in my opinion The only positive I can think of is the engine note about 4000, but thats about it.
And you can't realy compare a normal fiesta with it, they're decent cars for what they are but when you don some stripes and bang in a motor from another car, it doesn't make it a decent hot hatch.
I drove the XR4 a couple of times prior to buying Polo and I thought it wasn't bad. Definately turns in and handles better than the Polo.
Feels quicker than it actually is.
Bought the Polo because it's a much better package overall.
