    Polo Gti ECU re-mapping

I have had the APR re-map downloaded to my car, and despite a noticeable improvement in performance, there is no way it has added the claimed 43kW & 100Nm.

What are people's thoughts on this? Has anyone purchased the APR re-map and had their car dyno'd to prove the resultant changes?

    Thanks,

    James.

    Go and get it dyno'd.

Have you had it scanned and done any data logging yet? Your answers may be hidden in there.

most of the Polo GTIs dyno plots I have seen seem to pump out around 120kw with a tune.

Claimed figures are always in a perfect world with a perfect car on a perfect day and are quoted at the engine, not at the wheels.

    Too many variables.

There was a recent dyno day in Syd, figures were about 120-130 kw. On saying that, few supporting mods.

If you are not experiencing a very large gain in power, I'd either check your car or get it checked for boost leaks and all the vacuum hoses properly connected. All it takes is 1 clamp a little loose and you won't be making peak power. I don't know how you could judge power, may be easiest to see if you can get someone in Melb to take you for a spin, see if its much different.

Vag-com can help you test, a few threads around here.

110kw at the fly stock = ~88kw atw (20% drivetrain loss)
152kw at the fly tuned x 20% drivetrain loss = ~120kw (coincidentally what most tune only cars produce on the dyno)

    * figures are a rough guide, from previous Brisbane dyno day data

The tune will produce the claimed power, no need to worry about that. Suggestions above should help find what's causing any power loss.

One thing to say, is it does take a good tank or fuel or two before the tune settles in.

After I had my GIAC tune, my boost was at 15psi straight after (It's 9psi stock), by that night it was 18psi, and by a week later it was 20-21psi.
