Unfortunately ... your car is and not just because of the badge, but also the price. Hate to say it but they are your competition, just like the new WRX is in the same segment as the GTI I know which I would have ...

I had my head bitten off round before cause some little upstart didn't think there was a difference. There most certainly is a difference.

Polo GTI and Satria is such diff leagues, that the GTI is playing european handball and the satria is playing water polo (yeah I'm high on olympics). The Satria is how old now? A friend has one, he bought it brand new after it sat in a Proton storage yard for 3 years. Doesn't come close to our GTI's. The Swift Sport, is closer to the point but 2 diff price points and rather different performance. The new Pug GTI isn't here yet.

But yes the Golf GTI is in the same segment as the WRX

yeah in know. i'm talking about the lettering on the GTI badge, not so much as the official car class (price range, cylinders etc.), don't read so much into it.... i'm saying i don't want to be associated as a GTi with those cars, because they are petty in comparison.

i think they've canned the GTi badge and are sticking with just GT for the x07/x08 models. thats what iread when i had my 206 GTi anyway.

I completely agree with you, but you still have to keep in mind its a polo, which starts from $26990 and well its an entry level hot hatch, the best entry level hot hatch mind you by some margin, but still the entry level hot hatch. The XR4 Fiesta for example is a similar car, even has slightly better handling and costs almost the same. Doesn't mean its as good as the Polo, and by a significant margin but its still its competition and what the Polo is compared to and one of its many benchmarks.

We're talking the new Pug that shares it's engine with the new Cooper S?

What I meant is the people looking at a Satria GTI and a Polo GTI have diff priorities.

This is probably a stupid question but what does GTI even stand for? *prepares to be laughed at*
