Angry Polo GTI 9N3 limp mode

I was going home from work in my 2006 polo gti 9n3 (stock) going up a hill on the freeway and the car went into limp mode. I pulled over and turned the car off for about five minutes and everything was fine. This has now happened to me two weeks in a row. Any suggestions on what the problem could be?

Do you have a scan tool/fault code reader? really need a fault code to get an idea of whats happening. Freeway, high gear, up hill....it could be overboost related eg wastegate line has come off or has a leak in it, but thats just a stab in the dark.

The basic OBD scanners on ebay work to scan for fault codes. The cheap ones can't clear the codes, or it may just be that the phone apps need to be paid for to clear codes... Eitherway, it's a starting point to read the code and research from there.

In limp mode, you got a check engine light, or just low boost?

I always have a check engine light because of the O2 sensor ( a mechanic told me) and yes when going up the hill I just lost boost/power.

Going to need more details to be of any use, or really just best to scan it. Could just be the N75 (electronically boost controller) failing. I've had to replace them on both Polo's I've had.

the 02 sensor is a pretty important sensor for the computer.....i would get the computer scanned and see what the story is.

where do you live in sydney ? i have one which you could use to see what the error code is if you live nearby. I live in the Hills area
