Polo GTI 9n - How long to sell?

I've noticed a couple of members here have sold their Pogs and would like to hear some feedback..

I'm thinking about selling my beloved Pog around April this year and was wondering what the sale time is on these cars, how fast do they move on the market and what price do you usually achieve?

My car is a Red 2010 model, leather interior and in mint condition with 23,000kms on the clock, under warranty until about November, has the APR chip with 4 programs installed along with full vw service history.

Very sad to let it go but commitments mean I will have to move on from it

I've had mine up for sale for a week, and not had a SINGLE enquiry. It's on Carsales (at a pretty reasonable price for the KM's and age), in near mint condition, it's advertised on forums, spammed on Facebook, and has a sign on the back and been driven around lots of places.

I wouldn't count on selling it by a specific time/date, it probably won't happen. Hence my car is being traded in tomorrow

It took me about 3 and a half weeks to sell mine last year.
I ended up dropping the price by $2000.
I wouldve had mayeb 6 or 7 people look at the car.
I put it up on carsales and gumtree.

When I sold my previous car, it took 2 weeks before I had a flood of calls and messages. It was a Honda Integra Type S (Market was probably there) but then again, it did take 2 weeks.

I could have sat on it for another couple of weeks, but a very good deal came up on the new car that I wanted, and didn't want to risk being stuck with mine for another month, having to take 3-4k off the price, and paying an additional 4-5k on the new one from missing out on the good deal. Selling second hand cars sucks.

I traded mine and got a deal that i was happy with...and after selling some of the parts i had in the garage for it I have a bit of petrol money and ended up with close enough to what i would probably have got on carsales

the back story....
I wasn't really looking to change cars as quickly as i did. I had finally admitted that i had no time to upgrade the POLO to where i wanted it and all the parts sitting in the garage waiting to be put on were just mocking me.
So i started to look around at a replacement car that was at the point i wanted to get mine to and after hours of internet research i had narrowed the choice down to one probable and one maybe.....
I have to admit that while i loved the POLO - after the test drives i couldn't wait to change cars so i told the dealer what i wanted for a trade and he agreed.
I had a look on carsales and there were plenty for sale at what i considered a reasonable price......so living in Townsville where commodores and xr6/8 are the norm it would have taken a while to sell it.....
It would have been a month or two or three of slowly dropping the price...so more than happy trading it in and getting the new car straight away

I think it will highly depend on how much you are asking and where its listed.

I like using carpoint, it seems to have the best search features. As your car is fairly new, people will compare the price with the new Polo, so you need to understand that someone who wants A Polo, probably won't see the value in yours if you are trying to get $22K for it. on the other hand, a 2006, stock can go for around $14K.

Hard to say, I went down that path a year ago, but for the money didn't like the alternatives. After fixing the stuff that bothered me, its been great, although I really do need to address a few little items that have been on the agenda for ages (colour coding, etc).

I've had the same thought cross my mind.

And considering the scarcity of the car and now the new version, i put that difficulty to sell in my purchase decision.

- address little cosmetics (tiny scratches and what not).
- keep log books stamped to keep up value.
- most likely, trade in for a new(er) VW.

I was hoping to get 21k for it, not really being unreasonable since its extremely good value at that and I bought it new

Have had luck in the past with carsales.com and i use to work in the same building as them until they moved, sold my last car in less than 24hrs lol (was only a cheapie 3g daewong)

In Victoria there's currently 14 listed, when i was purchasing mine there was like 23 listed here, guess that means less choice for buyers
