    polo gti 2006 timing belt

just curious, is the timing belt due in this model polo at 100,000KM?

I'm not a VW expert but I'd say yes just in general. It should be changed every couple of years anyway even if you don't rack up the service kms due to the belt aging. Mine's got 38k on it but it's 5 years old now so I'll be changing it for peace of mind.

Haven't logged into this place for a long time - however, I thought it'd probably be worth pointing out to the community that the recommended timing belt interval seems to have been changed to 7 Years/105,000KM - significantly up from 4 Years/60,000KM.

I just hit the 5 year mark, and booked in for a service and timing belt change at the local dealership - only to be told that the timing belt wasn't due for another 2 years.

(If you're wondering why I didn't do it last year - I have a low mileage car and wanted to stagger it from the 2 year major service cycle).

I'll be getting mine done at 100,000 as part of a major refurb - new control arm bushes, strut top mount and bearing, brake discs and pads. It feels like the right time to do it.

I have the same year model, and reaching 80k. I thought the 100k on the service book was amended to 60k/4 year?

Well seeing as the service interval is 15,000km, I don't know where you are getting 100,000 from... It says 105,000km in the service book for my August 07 built GTI.
