Firstly good onya for going out there with a stock polo on a hot night and having a go .

The times are pretty good , it looks like the launch is where your loosing time , if it wheelspins too much lower your tyre pressure slightly . Getting the launch right is critical in getting a good et it doesnt affect your mph as much though . Ive found that launching it around 3500 rpm is probably the best rpm for a stock turbo and gently slipping it so it doesnt grab too hard . That way its right on boost when it does grab , also I would be leaving it in 3rd across the finish line , you loose about .3 sec on a gear change ! But overall thats a good result on a hot night . With a perfect launch and the temperature around 20 you should dip into the low 15's . Also a bit of weight reduction helps too !!! . Looking forward to seeing some more timeslips soon

This statement is spot on. My best run was the only time I hung onto 3rd peg. Also dropped the tyre pressures down to 25 lbs & the revs on take off, after the first run which was all wheel spin.
P.S. At Eastern Creek the reaction times are excluded from actual times on the amateur nights.

Kia here is what Shaneth & Myself come up with earlier on.

    Rear 3.2 46

Now according to Michelin uk site it says to add 5 psi to the cold recommendation if your tyres are hot.

    I hope this helps

Shaneth, These figures are O.K. if you have 5 passengers & luggage.
I myself have'nt had anyone in the rear seat as yet, so then the figures change a bit.
Fr. 2.6--38lb. [ As recommended for 2 passengers.]
    Re. 2.4--35lb. [ " " " " " .]
As this little girl is mine & the wife has her own car, I changed the pressures even to these figures.
Fr. 2.5--36lb. [ This also helps with the torque steer.]

ha, i ran at calder park last fri as well, stock as a rock and 34 psi in the front tyres lol reaction time lol, 15.4 at 88 mph... i'm ok with that... 4 now. The other lane is my cousin in his 94 wrx, didn't even launch and still pull 14 flat bastard lol. Traction control is off, full weight with 3/4 tank.

The next day i put it on the dyno at a dyno comp at a local shop, bit wierd as its lower than i expected, may be the dyno setup that day. the same wrx got 152kw@14psi at all 4.

21KW drivetrain loss is excellent. What did you think it should be?

I would have thought 93 would be about right but we all know what dyno's are like you could have taken it down the road 10 minutes after and gotten the 93kw reading. Unfortuneately dynos cant be relied upon 100% for power figures. In fact my Last car which was a 1993 corolla had 86kw@w and weighed in around 1050kg and the best i could do was 15.9 and it had lsd as well. What im getting at is that its all relitive.

I just got the temp APR chip and the best I can manage for 0-100 is 6.3-6.4 sec....
also I went to the drags last night..... toooo much wheelspin... even when shortshifting.... ran a 15.1 at 94mph.... but wheel spinning all way thru second gear...lol
any suggestions on launch to reduce wheelspin?
