Manufacturers say the XR4 is faster. I've had the debate on other forums that the Polo is actually faster than an XR4, but now those videos provide a bit more than just my personal experiences.
Also in the original Video, read the comments, the guy said he did a 15.1 later that day but it wasn't filmed.
I have heard the XR4 handles better than a polo GTI, but the GTI chops it in a straight line. On a track, I guess the handling counts for a bit more.
At least with the GTI you can upgrade the suspension to be better than the XR4, and it is already quicker on the straight before you go down the road of chipping!
Personally, I am glad I didn't wait for the XR4, but can understand why others would go for it - $2k cheaper, bigger wheels with Pirellis, etc. But I much prefer the look of the GTI and turbo was a must for me.
Either way its great that more and more pocket rockets are coming on the market!

Must admit though the XR4 looks hot in white with the blue racing stripes!!![]()

The XR4 does look good. But as others have said, Suspension + chip and the Polo is a monster. To get more power out of the XR4 a chip won't do all that much (certainly won't add 40kw like a polo). Plus with handling that comes down to the driver a lot. All depends who has the bigger balls.... unless your up against a 911..... then its all over.
I just like the note of the polo better, plus the noise of the turbo as you give it some stick.
the 20vt is a monster of an engine thats for sure
