I don't know what causes it but the end result is your polo leaves on the back of a tow truck and VW claim there is nothing wrong with the gearbox.

To explain my oh so subtle point: the Polo gear change linkage is a cable system, not a directly connected linkage. Therefore, reducing engine mount movement with a stiffer dog bone mount insert will not effect the gearchange 'feel'. This cable gearchange mechanism is the reason why the Pog doesn't take to flat shifting very well -- there's too much give to make the necessary quick changes.

    Hoyhoy.
I find this statement fairly contradictive.
PS. No1. Especailly this part,,,(there's too much give to make the necessary quick changes.)
PS. No2.,,,(stiffer dog bone mount insert [[[ will not effect ]]] the gearchange 'feel')
PS. No3.,,, What about not putting extra pressure on the cable.

Or you drive (while it's drivable) to a decent dealer and they replace the gearbox no charge.

Could be a number of things causing it, but it does seem there are a hell of a lot of issues with these gearboxes. I'd say somewhere along the assembly line, someone got lazy or VW have just opted to save money and build it with second rate parts. Having said that, I have had no issues with my gearbox at all, in fact it feels heaps more solid than my previous car's (Peugeot 206 GTi180).

I like the sound of this mount, but since I like the gearbox how it is and I don't track the car regularly, I have no real need. Plus, I want to flash the ECU and/or do suspension first.

You can drive the car in third. Quite easily.

Well, you might be lucky to 1 day get a hold of 1 of these mounts, if Guy decides to get any more made.
PS. Most of us people that have had this done aren't bull-pooping.

    Is bull-pooping a thing now?

You need to be careful with that Joel. If you drive it to a dealer you may not get a courtesy car from the dealer, however if you call VW assist and it needs to be towed, VW I think will give you a courtesy car.

Fair enough guys. I was just responding to Adam's issue. From what he posted, it sounded like it's still an intermittent issue and is still quite drivable. Happy to be wrong, was just my impression that's all.

I was just giving a less dramatic alternative. Besides, I'd be stoked to get a courtesy car and if it means you need to get it on the back of a truck to get one I'd probably do it. They don't all just hand out courtesy cars though and as there is no competition in Canberra, I'd be pleasantly surprised to be offered a car but I doubt it. It depends on the dealer you are towed to.

I never said anyone was "bull-pooping" nor am I underestimating the modification/improvement. it's all good, I was merely stating that to date I haven't had an issue, the car is stock, and therefore have no need for it.

Had mine fitted a week or so ago. Little more vibration at idle, but allround a definte improvement.

If you see what the std one looks like you cant believe a manufacturer would make something like it......
