good stuff well done mate. In my smaller sizes those federals are 140 treadwear, they must be higher in the bigger sizes. Did you end up getting some coin back for the yoko's?
New PB at lakeside yesterday.

Bought some new Federal RS-RR tyres in a 215/40/17, 34psi.
Was mighty impressed with the tyre given it's a "street" tyre and not a semi-slick, 200 tread wear... I've not driven on such a tyre before, only semi slicks and did a better lap time on this tyre than I could achieve on the Kumho V-70's. Braking was very strong. It could have been a bit better lap, still some room for error and wasn't a very high risk lap. At no point in the day did the tyre slide or was unpredictable.

I believe they've changed the treadwear rating when going from the RSR to RR series. I still have the A050 Softs, had them mounted to the enkei rims a few weeks back and the RR's on the audi rims. I'm fighting the flu at the moment and didn't want to stuff around swapping wheels so running the RR's as a daily. Plus I need to freshen up my driving a bit before running the soft compounds as it's been 12 months since regular track driving. I may try sell them, or look for some hill climbs or similar to run them at.
Got some heat management changes to make to the car, i.e. trying to seal around the radiator to bumper and FMIC to radiator to ensure air is flowing through as opposed to around the radiators. I've been getting boost drop over a few laps.
When time permits, I'll go over my lap data to see how/where I made gains on the new tyres over the semi's. I was changing my line through one the corners for a straighter exit, which meant I had to grab 5th gear as I was topping 4th down the back straight at lakeside with a peak of over 170km into hungry. Yehaaa.

nice work mate, interesting feedback on the rs-rr. i have contemplated these as a road tyre in the past but was sceptical after some reviews i'd read. i'll definitely keep them in mind for future...
keen to know how you manged to purchase them in 34psi, when i buy tyres they always come in 40psi or there abouts...
catch up at lakeside next weekend if you're going...
They are quite a loud tyre, be in no doubt about that. If it was a more luxury car and less focused I'd probably not be too impressed about the noise. It's probably worse that my driving is mostly highway. I bought these from Ivan at Jacob's Tyres, he recommended 32psi hot for track and 38 on street... They have a very firm sidewall, I didn't notice role in the sidewall so I'm currently comfortable with a lower psi.
Yup, I'll be at HL

I'll check out the treadwear. I'm going to run 15's as my road tyres and was looking at either Toyo R1R's or the new 595's. I was leaning towards the R1R's as they are meant to be awesome in the wet on small cars so they were going to be my wets/road tyres. Can't seem to find many reviews of the 595RS-RR in the wet which is why I was baulking at those. Pushed yours in the wet yet?
yeah you're right. In RSR-R they're all treadwear 200 now: Federal Tyres - UHP - 595RS-RR versus 140 for the whole range in RS-R: Federal Tyres - UHP - 595RS-R
Toyo R1R are 140 so I might just whack the Toyo's on or I could get some of the older RS-R which are 140 if the shelf life isn't too bad and hopefully get to use them in the wet before they disintegrate on the road.
edit: seems R1R toyos are in fact 200's too.
