Nice find! Anyone know where the one for the mk4 is? I'm guessing it's in a similar location. Maybe I should just go look. How many k's do you have an how dirty was it?
Polo 9N Pollen Filter Clean / Change.
This is an easy thing to do. The filter is located under the passenger side dash.
To remove simply slide the two tabs into the centre which release the cover plate.
Then its just a matter of pulling gently downwards on the filter.
Mine was a little stiff but came with a bit of work.
A quick pat and blow out to remove the dirt and then it’s a matter of guiding the filter gently back into place and placing the cover plate back over the top.
If the filter is looking really bad its time to replace it.
I think from when i had my MK4 its in the engine bay up near the air box not sure tho.
Ill have a scout about and see what i find on the MK4.
My car has done 30,000k and it was full of crud.
So well worth the 5 mins to clean.
The Mk4 is found in the engine bay below the windscreen on the LHS. You will see 3 screws and a removable panel on the lower scuttle trim. Easy thing to replace. I normally replace them at 75,000 km.

Every 30,000 is the recommended time for replacement , and u can pick up OEM for around $15 and lets face it the bugs and leaves love it in there. I once had a mouse make a nest in there. What a mess it was in a GT3 Porsche. It ate its way through it and got into the vehicle and ate things like gearknob boots and all the other expensive little leather items. It then decided to try and go back out the hole it came through and died as a result as it was twice the size!!!!!!! The smell was unbelievable. I will post on some piccies you wont believe it till ye see it

Struth! Gotta blame the owner for that n: A GT3 Porsche and not driven enough or as intended, which surely would give a lowly mouse second thoughts about what constitutes a good home.
Rob... thanks for this, and also the light bulb DIY
Cheers Timbo.
Working on a front bar removal DIY at the mo will take a few more days yet as i am flat out at work.

how many k's pologti?
i did mind last night, picked out loads of leaves... wasn't as black as that though after 33000
Just ticked over 30,000.
Nice work!
Thanks heaps for this - seems an easy enough DIY (no screwdrivers required, even!) and since VWs in general default to fresh air rather than recirc, the pollen filter is more important overall.
