Polo 9n Cold morning and low coolant / high coolant temp

Sorry in advance. Tried searching but didnt find much.

My girlfriends 2008 polo has a weird habit on a cold Melbourne morning of the car starting and the low coolant light flashing till either gets to operating temp or you re- start the car.

Is this a known issue or an easy fix??

    Thanks

Is it not the low ambient temp warning?

Have replaced an expansion tank on one of these in the past for doing similar things. The level sensor was doing weird things in cold weather.

Have done some more reading and I'm pretty sure it is this. Yeap level seems alright as well. So will hopefully just change this
