    Polo 1.4 anyone?

hi i've got a petrol 1.4 polo 2008 and its sloooww...! i haven't seen any threads on the standard polo's .
has anyone modded one of these or know how to get more power out of the 1.4 and where to get parts from in sydney? pictures would be good too.
i've already custom fitted a pod onto it but any other suggestions/advice would be entirely welcome..(i can't get a gti cause of p plate restrictions..)

I don't want to be mean but what did you expect out of a 1.4. didn't you realise that it would be slow when you bought the car?

my mate had a 1.4 polo..

pod filter made the car slower.. and wen he went to get his exhuast fitted.. they said 2" exhuast system would be too big and make the car slower then stock

so he put 17" a8's and it was a true nugget

Our "second car is a Polo 1.4 Auto. It won't pull a drunken sailor off you sister, but Julia loves "her" little Volkswagen.

Not much gains to be made by chipping, but another 10 Kw would make a great deal of difference.

Did you even test drive the car before handing your money over? Sounds like you didn't do your homework before making your decision.

Are the P plate laws that different in Sydney? I've seen a red P plater in a GTI around my area. For memory, I think you're allowed to drive anything that is equal to or less than 125kw / tonne. Which means it's OK to drive a GTI. But I don't know how different the laws are in Sydney.

Still, even if you couldn't get a GTI. The TDI is certainly no slouch.

I think that was the case until the new P plater laws were introduced sometime last year. Now, anything with forced induction is prohibited even the new 1.4 TSI Golf Mk6 or even in anything that may be say 1.3ltr turbo that produces less than 80kw. Some people just take the risk of being pulled over by the cops and the lucky ones get away with it. Got a friend who is a P plater and ordered the new mk6 Golf but had to get a refund on the basis that he could not legally drive it due to the P plate laws. Really sucks though and in my opinion its a really biased and under researched/unproven law. BS in my opinion.

Yeah I'm sorry but I was thinking the same thing. In fact part of me thinks this has to be a geeup. You know why you haven't seen any threads on standard polo's? Cause they are slow. What were you thinking would happen? You'd buy a 1.4, that there would be moutains of mods for it, that you'd rock up to a set of lights next a Polo GTI and smoke him?

Come on guys we all know what its like we all start somewhere with cars.
He may not have had a choice in the car to start with.

I would recomend looking to the uk forums as i am sure some one has gone down this road before.

Your never going to get huge gains out of the 1.4 but u may get a hp or 2.
If you do just want a "fast car" i would say dont spend money on mods but start to do some reshearch into your next car and save like crazy.
Not many parts in Aus for tuning Polos so parts can get expensive.

Good luck with it, but really saving your cash to put towards the next car would be a better option.
