I am not sure how it work too, but when i start teh car, there is vacum over there. I put a little pod on it and it works fine! I am pretty sure you can connect it to anyway as long as there is no dust and water going in!
Quick Q guys,
I've already read plenty on the whole Pod Vs SEAT intake story.
My question is I keep seeing the second smaller filter that people keep saying is for cold starts, but I can't say I've ever encountered a car with a hose like that and was wondering what exactly it does to assist with cold starts?
Can it be run to a different point in the intake tract, or does it need its own individual filter? (As it appears some of the Mk IV Golf GTi intakes have this piping going into the intake tract between the pod filter and the MAF)
Anyone able to clear this up for me?

Did it a bit of Googling and Spec83 is right, the air pump is there to reduce pollution under cold starts.
The pump feeds the exhaust to bring the catalytic converter up to temp much faster.
I would post you the link but something is wrong with my computer, it wont let me paste!!
