    Performance

    Hi

I'm seriously considering a couple of APR bits and pieces for my polo.

I was thinking of upgrading the turbo to the K04 + software and getting the straight through exhaust as well.

Any thoughts, as its fairly big money. Is the bigger turbo worth it?

sydman depends have u sorted out everything else first? i.e brakes suspension lsd fmic etc? if u have well then after being taken for a spin in guys car i would but to be honest im having enough traction problems atm with all mods except lsd and without a k04 so wouldnt even consider it until u get that all sorted

Speaking from a purely personal perspective - I can't understand how anyone could consider 1 horsepower more before improving suspension and brakes.

The reason the standard GTI is detuned to 110kw is because that is probably just over more than it can safely handle.

yeah the traction does seem to be an issue, even as stock. is the FMIC necessary? im pretty ignorant when it cms to all this, so im happy to learn as i go. i thought LSD would assist with the traction, brakes not an issue as a mate is a supplier of brembo's so i can get them pretty cheap and easy. will i/should i also look at the suspension?

The APR stage 3 is not such a bad idea. Think of it this way, if you get it all done at once you wont have to pay for things twice.

I wouldnt be surprised if a few people go for a KO4. Then, later down the track, decide they want even more power and spend money again on a turbo to get the GT28. This way you get it all at once and you will know that you got some good hardware without having to upgrade the same parts twice.

The traction/barkes/suspension may require some attention but you can focus on these later on. Just cause you have a great deal of power it dosent mean you have to use it all everytime you accelerate. Just take it a bit easy till you get the traction/brakes/suspension sorted.

There's plenty of information on here, in terms of people's experiences on various set-ups, if you spend a bit of time searching and poking about.

Personally, I am of the school that says it is foolish NOT to upgrade brakes and suspension at the same time as power, especially as the stock Pog brakes can only be described as 'adequate'. It's a hard lesson to learn

Best way to approach it is to increase your knowledge, before purchasing anything. Everyone has an opinion, but if you're considering APR (for instance) then you could discuss your plans with Guy directly. The most important thing is to work out what you want to achieve, and the pros and cons of each mod and the $$$$ in getting there.

Well so far I found the tyres to give up before the brakes do, but the brakes can get pretty stinky after a while. Do you find for street the brakes are okay?

I think an LSD just means you can destroy two tyres at once instead of one at a time hahaha.
