    PCV looks very crusty

    Hi all
i had the top engine cover off the other day and i noticed the PCV (or whatever its called on the GTI) was lookn a bit crusty. specifically it had some grease/grime on the outside of it, where it connects to the top of the motor.
so what have others done in a similar situation...
    ignore it?
clean it out and do nothing else?
clean it out and stick in a oil/air separator catch can?

Mine is the same, I would not worry about too much it unless it is wet and dripping / ozzing everwhere in which case you may ahve a bigger problem
